Five. Days.
After years of looking forward to this, months and months of planning, and weeks of bringing it all together, all that remains between us and Prom is . . . five days.
Can you believe it?
Everything is coming together (except for the date – but we knew that, right?) and I’m ready to finally just experience Prom night . . . our last night as a class.
This is the beginning of my Prom story . . . and, although the date thing is, well, a thing . . . there’s something exciting about not knowing how my story Prom story will wind up.
Someone out there will be my last dance. And they don’t know it yet. I don’t know it yet. But I know this . . . it will be something I’ll always remember.
Also, it will be at 10:55 pm. Principal Dunnan has been really clear about that.

Prom is just over a month away and there’s still so much to do! It’s funny . . . the more time I spend putting Prom together, the less I feel like it’s my Prom.
I have a massive checklist to go through every day, but I still haven’t had a chance to even try on a dress. Is that terrible?
I love putting this night together for our class, but I can’t wait to just go to the dance and enjoy it like everyone else.
Everyone else seems to have a date, though. Yikes.

Every Prom needs tunes. It sets the mood, even before you get to the dance.
As soon as she gets in your car, the Prom experience should begin. Start things off with some fun jams, you know?
My girlfriend is a model and also Greek, so that means she likes a good Euro House sound. It’s not my thing, but it puts her in the right space, you know?
From there, you’re gonna want to segue into some kind of slow situation. Something that’s going to set the tone for a night of magic and mystery.
Old people music is really good for this, but you have to choose this stuff carefully.
Also, stay away from jazz. It can trick you by starting soft and sweet . . . but at some point, some guy will go bananas on a trumpet. It can be scary.
Here’s a tip about music on Prom. Don’t sing along. Even if it’s your favorite tunes, just let the music wash over you and set the mood for you.
